Borrington Road Park
Two Young Advisors began work for a local community action group to help develop their local park. Although a considerable amount of investment had been made in the park there were issues with ongoing maintenance. The Young Advisors visited the park and made a list of issues and where they would like to see improvement. They then met with the owner of the play area and negotiated for markings to be made on the basketball court and an increased frequency of grass cutting on the football pitch.
One of the areas they identified as needing improvement was the youth shelter. It is not sufficient for the young people as it is badly placed and open to the elements. The Young Advisors are currently carrying put a piece of work to consult with local youngsters about the youth shelter and will be helping to submit funding bids to get money to build the chosen design.
The client, Offmore Comberton Action Group, were very happy with the input from the Young Advisors and recognised that by working with the YA’s more funding opportunities can be accessed.
