Young Advisors Lead Consultation

Nat and Kim from the Sefton Young Advisor project attended a day at a local primary school, working with year 4/5 pupils, along with Caroline, Sefton Voices Participation and Involvement Worker.

The day was aimed at showing the pupils how to make changes that they wanted in their area through playing fun consultation games with them to see what they would like changing and what they want in the future.

The team also explained the role of a Young Advisor (YA) and the skills they would need for this and played games which showed them the key skills to be a YA. One pupil said, " Young Advisors learnt us how to solve the world's problems." A bold claim, but at least the day was very good and the young people really enjoyed themselves!

In addition to the above, Natalie and Emily recently carried out a consultation with 6 young people from across Sefton on their new housing strategy plan, which will see them through for the next 5 years. They started by making a house out of art based materials to show what they would like in the future, this was loads of fun and many found it very interesting. They then started explaining and breaking down the information around the strategy and asked them questions to provoke more discussion. The YA's then took away the information and processed a report readable for both young people and adults.
