YA attends Council of Europe's Youth Assembly

Young Advisor Oshien Sheedy goes to Strasbourg

Youth Assembly in Strasbourg

Waltham Forest Young Advisor Oshien Sheedy, recently attended the Council of Europe's Youth Assembly in Strasbourg (5-7 Oct) along with Wendy Baah from the Youth Independent Advisory Group. Here's what he had to say:

"The Youth Assembly in Strasbourg was a wonderful opportunity for me to meet a diverse range of fellow workers for youth democracy, not only from across Europe, but also countries as far off as Mexico and Israel's Palestinian territories. With so many people, I am proud to say almost half the UK representatives were from Waltham Forest alone! I enjoyed sharing stories of the work I do in Waltham Forest with them and equally, hearing what they had to say about the work they do back at home. The event has really given me a fresh perspective on youth democracy and confirmed its importance in my mind. To sum up, one of the things which occurred to me most is that youth democracy is more of a process than a destination. It is about the experience and people you work with; about mutual sharing and learning. Therefore, we have a lot to be grateful for in having such a great group of Young Advisors to work with in Waltham Forest."
