Quite a good day, YAs got some great national mentions, great feedback from recently trained teams, and an HRH Princess Royal event tomorrow

On Friday 12th August 2011, days after the UK riots, Sheffield Young Advisors Luke, Ellie and Emma met with Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg to talk about their ongoing work in the city and their thoughts on recent events. Sheffield was the largest city in the UK not to experience any violent disorder, and the young people discussed with Mr. Clegg why they thought this was the case. They also highlighted the positive work of young people - both past and present - and why they felt dedicated to improving their community.
Luke commented: "The young people and Sheffield Futures staff discussed with him how we had been spreading the message to keep calm and not copy other cities across the country. They told him how Young People in Sheffield are proud of their city and therefore do not want to go around destroying it and ruining their communities that they had worked hard on."
A short video to show discussions...
