RT @jennyrobertson4: @YoungAdvisors check out Sefton YAs at their launch event! Heard all about their exciting work! Proud DO @SeftonYAs ...

Already in 2011, Young Advisors have had the opportunity to meet with several ministers from the Coalition Government to help ensure the views of young people are shaping national policy.
We have Young Advisors regularly meeting with Parliamentary Undersecretary of State for Children and Families, Tim Loughton MP, as part of his Youth Panel within the Department for Education. The Minister said:
“I am committed to young people having a seat at the top table. We had a wide-ranging discussion that shows just how valuable it is to involve and listen to young people. I want to set the standard for councils and others by involving young people directly in developing our policies. I'm looking forward to meeting the group again".
Our Chair Sean O'Halloran sat at the top table with three ministers at the recent Youth Summit involving over 300 delegates including many Young Advisors. You can learn more above the event by checking out the video below.
Our Waltham Forest Team recently hosted a visit from Andrew Stunnell MP who was exploring how young people were making Big Society a reality in their borough. The minister said at the event:
"There is nothing 'big' about a society that doesn't include young people, and Waltham Forest's Young Advisors are showing the value of their voice and a real appetite for making an active contribution. The team are an inspiration for other young people to speak up and have their say in their local communities."
Greg Clark minister for Decentralisation at DCLG has also met with Young Advisors on several occasions to learn more about our work and consult with young people on how they think the department could bust barriers for local involvement in decision making. We hope to continue meeting with Greg on a two monthly basis.
Being a Young Advisor isn't just about changing your community and local services for the better, it is about sharing your experience with national decision makers so that they can develop policy that will enable even more young people to have a voice and make a difference.
