Wirral Young Advisors

Since training as Young Advisors on Saturday 28th January 2012, the group have done 2 pieces of work. The young people were approached my CAMHS (mental health organisation), regular meetings have took place in order to form a working relationship with this organisation.

The Young Advisors main role is to design youth friendly posters and youth proof information; so far this has been a voluntary position. But the Young Advisors have negotiated paid employment for some work that they will undertake, working alongside CAMHS employees. This is an ongoing development plan.

Recently, the Young Advisors have been helping Rampworx (skating arena) to complete a feasibility study to help to prove the need for the development of a new skatepark in Bidston, Wirral. In return for getting their peers and other young people around the school to complete the questionnaire, the Young Advisors were given free passes to Rampworx in Liverpool.

The Young Advisors Training also helped to kick start our NCS social action project again. The group have applied for funding to support the project and attend a session every week. During this session, they do any necessary work on their allotment plot, design and delivery posters, work on development plans and talk about ways to reach out to the community.
