Consultation on Sexual Health Provision for Young People in the City under 25 years.
NHS Leicester are looking for up to 5 Young Advisors to be commissioned to design, plan and implement a city wide consultation of sexual health provision across the City. The group will have to also prepare a full written report of findings, including a statistical analysis, and present them back verbally to NHS committees.
Group members will have to carry out face to face interviews, focus group sessions, discussions with users of services, professionals delivering provision and possibly train other young people to carry out the consultation. The findings of this consultation will inform the future commissioning of NHS services.
This is a short term project and the full report is to be presented to NHS Leicester by mid September.
Mystery Shoppers Programme
NHS Leicester wish to commission 10 to 12 Young Advisors to become Mystery Shoppers. The YAs will mystery shop sexual health provision across the City over a number of months. Having received full training and support, they will mystery shop services and complete written reports that will contribute towards the evaluation of commissioned services within the City.
This is a longer term project and will run until March 31st 2012.
Involvement in the review of the Children's and Young People's Plan
Young Advisors have been invited to contribute to the review of the Children and Young People's Plan, the document which informs decisions about children and young people's services in Leicester. This is one of the most important documents for services for young people - it's a very short term project for 5 Young Advisors, and work will be completed by July.
Presentation to Leicester Children's Trust Board
4/5 Young Advisors are invited to attend this meeting and present to board members about the Young Advisors project, to share information on commissioned work to date, to discuss the role of mentors and how they can support YAs, and how Young Advisors see themselves supporting work with young people in the City.
Peer educators for National Citizen Service
The National Citizen Service (NCS) is a pilot programme initiated by the government for 16 yr old school leavers. The programme involves young people in a local area coming together in teams. They spend some time on a residential getting to know each other, another residential to learn new skills and put them to the test, young people come up with a social action project, whereby young people spend a number of hours volunteering in the local community. This pilot will run throughout the summer holidays. The pilot is being delivered in Leicester by an organisation called Catch22, they wish to recruit 6/8 Young Advisors to become peer mentors to young people referred to the project - Young Advisors in Leicester will support Catch 22 with delivery of the project, and support young people as they take part in the project. Following this they will also be part of evaluation and reviewing the pilot.
