Tasneem Modan, Waltham Forest YAs

What’s your name, age and how long have you been a YA?

My name is Tasneem Modan, I'm 17 years old and I have been a YA since September 2010.

What do you like most about your role?

I really the conversing with new people, discussing ideas and forming active plans to make a difference - it makes me feel useful in my community. I also like the range of work we do.

What things/projects have you been working on lately?

We recently did an event which helped promote the positive work that young people in the borough have been involved in, in light of the recent riots. Lots of councillors and members of the Met attended, and we, along with the YIAG, spoke about The Big Clean Up event and the mystery shopping amongst other things.

What do you think has been your projects biggest impact on your community?

I think the census project we were involved in had a really positive impact in the community. It involved engaging with lots of different people about the importance of the census and the end stats
showed how our work had affected the borough in a good way.

What’s next for you and your YA team?

Anything you throw at us!
