Two Young Advisors completed a project on behalf of The Community Housing Group (TCHG) in September 2009. The brief was to assess the feasibility of TCHG setting up a Youth Forum to engage young people in their business.

The Young Advisors initially carried out some research on the internet looking at the different youth forums out there. They contacted 5 Housing Associations to ask them what methods they used to engage young people. They contacted a local Youth Forum run by Worcestershire County Council’s Youth Support Service, attended a meeting to talk to members and interviewed members of staff. They designed and carried out a survey which was completed by over 100 young people at 3 fun days held across the district.

The Young Advisors completed a report outlining their findings and recommendations and presented this to TCHG’s Board. TCHG were very pleased with the quality and scope of the work and sent thank you letters. They are interested in getting Young Advisors to complete more work to see their project through to completion. Young Advisors were also invited to attend TCHG’s Annual General Meeting celebration event and in recognition of their work were given a donation of £50 towards the scheme.
