Young Advisors Improve Community Safety in Marsh Farm

Our Young Advisors in Luton have, for some time now, been a great example of young people who work with genuine passion towards improving their community. So we're delighted to see them getting the recognition they deserve!

As a key partner working to promote community safety, the Marsh Farm Community Development Trust (home of Luton Young Advisors) hosted the police and members of the Police Independent Advisory Group at the Futures House building in the centre of the community, at an event designed to recognise the contributions of local residents. Police staff were joined by Chief Superintendent Mike Colbourne, Commander of Luton, and Theresa Peltier, Head of Diversity and Inclusion for Bedfordshire Police.

Amongst those receiving recognition were four Young Advisors: Khadeem Rashid, Umar Hussain, Courtney Manning and Marsha Boltova, as well as the Partnership Manager, Montell Neufville of the Marsh Farm Community Development Trust, who have worked alongside the police on training and community engagement initiatives

Young Advisors scheme lead, Montell, said “The key message is that ensuring the safety of the whole community is everyone’s responsibility not just the responsibility of the police. What is really important is that there is a partnership, a partnership between members of the community and the police, between young people and older people and people from every background“.

Chief Superintendent Mile Colbourne said “Bedfordshire Police is extremely privileged and grateful for the continued support received from Mr Neufville and the Young Advisors. They have been key partners in raising awareness on issues such as Stop-And-Search, and supporting us in making improvements to local policing in Luton. We look forward to continuing our partnership relationship and working with them in the future ”

So congratulations to our Young Advisors yet again for their continued efforts to make Marsh Farm a safer and happier place to live! To contact the team, click here.
