Preston Road teenagers help shape a One Hull vision

Young Advisor Michaela Alexander holds an eight minute DVD on which she and other teenagers from Preston Road say what they think the future should hold for young people in the city.

The film will now be shown in Hull schools. It is thought to be the first time that young people have proof-read and created a DVD version of a community strategy, which has been produced by One Hull, the local strategic partnership for the city.

Neighbourhood Renewal Advisor told the launch at the KC Stadium: "Young people see three times more crime than anyone else. They have a key role to play in improving the community and they need to be included. Hull has been leading the country with the activities of young advisors and the programme is now being rolled out across England."

Hull City Council Leader Carl Minns added: "Wow doesn't suffice! I want to show this DVD to everyone."

The other young advisors involved in the DVD were Emma & Annemarie Edwards, Carl Sanderson, Becki Walgate, Samantha King, Danny Searle and Martin Wise. They have been trained by the Government to give advice to regeneration schemes on the needs of young people.
